Finding help on Flow

    Hi All,

I'm looking for some assistance with setting up a Flow which will send an email notification if an opportunity has been entered over a specific value.

When using the CDS connector "When a record is updated"
    a) I can filter to only trigger when it is the estimated value field is updated, to prevent it from running anytime any changes to the opporuntity occur
    b) If an opportunity is created with a value over the threshold it will not trigger the email

When using the Dynamics 365 connector "When a record is updated or created"
    a) How can i filter this so that it does not trigger for all updates?

Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hi Shane,

Using Flow it is very much easy to achieve B part but there is no out of box feature for a part. However I do have an alternate option for that.

    Logic:
When opportunity is created copy the value of opportunity into another currency field. And when opportunity is updated that time just check if the copied value is different as the current value, and if the revenue threshold is greater than send email and also dont forget to update the duplicate field with current value.

    Following are the execution steps.

    Steps:
    1. Create a currency field in Opportunity name "Copy est. Revenue".
    2. Now create a flow for the trigger when opportunity is created, add a step of Update record, add Opportunity (dynamics unique identifier from when record is created) as unique Identifier, look for the field that you created in above step, and add value of Est. Revenue to it:
    3. Now its time to create another flow, create a flow with trigger when opportunity is updated. You need to add two conditions as follows:

Completing all the above steps should achieve both your request.

I haven't tested it, but I think it should be working. Please test it and let us know if it works or not.

Please let me know if you have question/concerns or need more assistance. I am always happy to help the community in any way I can.

    Thanks
    Jay

    Hi Jay,

Thanks for your quick and detailed response.

Your solution includes two flows to be run. I was trying to avoid this by using the trigger "when a record is updated or created"

I think that if i accept that it will require two flows, shouldn't I just have one for "when a record is created" and a second for "when a record is updated"

Just to clarify I want to create a flow which send the email notification for any opportunities created above the threshold or updated to be over the threshold at a later time. I want to do this without excessively triggering flows ($$$)

I understand, you do not want to create multiple flows. The problem is that there is no way for the flow to only trigger when Est. Revenue field updates. So the first flow is to store the initial value of Est. Revenue so that in second flow you can compare and see if the field is updated or not.
