In this article, I will explain how to use role based security in D365. Before learning how to customize the security, it is important to know how to provide access to users using the existing functionality. #Dynamics365 #Dynamics365Musings #MSDyn365 #MSDyn365Community #DYN365O #D365FO #Microsoft #d365ug #xppgroupies #D365 #Security #SecurityDiagnostics #SecurityConfiguration #MenuItem https://dynamics365musings.com/security-in-d365/ Subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGH-qYVwp2AtQlOFFA3aDnA Related Blog: https://dynamics365musings.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peter-ramer-0500999/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/peter_ramer

Do you have Model files that you wish to bring into an environment? Or perhaps you want to better understand how x++ files are stored in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. Have you received this error message when building your x++ code: "Are you missing a module reference"? If the code in your model references objects or methods defined in another model, you need a reference to that model. In this article, I will explain how to update reference packages in D365. #Dynamics365 #Dynamics365Musings #MSDyn365 #MSDyn365Community #DYN365O #D365FO #Microsoft #d365ug #xppgroupies #D365 #Model #Packages #VisualStudio #UpdateReferencePackages https://dynamics365musings.com/update-reference-packages-in-d365/ Subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGH-qYVwp2AtQlOFFA3aDnA Related Blog: https://dynamics365musings.com LinkedIn: ...

As a developer, you need to create a Model in D365 to store any objects or code you wish to create. Use Extension objects to customize existing objects. Use Chain of Command and Event Handler classes to customize existing code. Or create entirely new objects and code. In this article, I will explain how to create a new Model in D365. #Dynamics365 #Dynamics365Musings #MSDyn365 #MSDyn365Community #DYN365O #D365FO #Microsoft #d365ug #xppgroupies #D365 #Model #Packages #Visual Studio https://dynamics365musings.com/create-a-model-in-d365/ Subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGH-qYVwp2AtQlOFFA3aDnA Related Blog: https://dynamics365musings.com ...

Most of the time the data you want to show on a form is stored in a field on a table. Using display methods you can run code to determine what is shown. A limitation of a display method is that the value cannot be edited. A D365 Edit method, tied to a form control, lets you run code on both what the user inputs and what is displayed back to the user. #Dynamics365 #Dynamics365Musings #MSDyn365 #MSDyn365Community #DYN365O #D365FO #Microsoft #d365ug #xppgroupies #D365 #Forms #EditMethod #CacheAddMethod #SysClientCacheDataMethodAttribute https://dynamics365musings.com/d365-edit-method/ Subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGH-qYVwp2AtQlOFFA3aDnA ...

While often the data you want to show on a form is stored in a field on a table, this is not always the case. Display methods run code based on the data in the current record. And show a value that is not stored directly in a table field. #Dynamics365 #Dynamics365Musings #MSDyn365 #MSDyn365Community #DYN365O #D365FO #Microsoft #d365ug #xppgroupies #D365 #Forms #DisplayMethod #CacheAddMethod https://dynamics365musings.com/d365-display-method/ Subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGH-qYVwp2AtQlOFFA3aDnA Related Blog: https://dynamics365musings.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/peter-ramer-0500999/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/pet ...

In the previous article I showed you how to call another from using a Menu Item Button. There are times, however, when you need to call a form using x++ code. Calling a form this way gives a developer greater control around what information is passed to the calling form. And a developer can even add code that runs after the calling form is closed. #Dynamics365 #Dynamics365Musings #MSDyn365 #MSDyn365Community #DYN365O #D365FO #Microsoft #d365ug #xppgroupies #D365 #Forms #Args #FormRun https://dynamics365musings.com/call-a-form-using-xpp/ Subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGH-qYVwp2AtQlOFFA3aDnA Related Blog: https://dynamics365musings.com ...

There are two common ways to call a form from another form within Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. You can use a menu item button. Or you can use use X++ code to call another form. In this article I will show you how to use an Menu Item Button. Sending an enum parameter to a form allows a form to be re-used for several different purposes. Developers can send parameters to forms in D365 F&O to control what data and controls are shown on the form. This creates a better experience for the user. Allowing them to focus on only what is needed for the specific purpose. #Dynamics365 #Args #Parameters #Dynamics365Musings #MSDyn365 #MSDyn365Community #DYN365O #D365FO #Microsoft #d365ug #xppgroupies #D365 #Forms #MenuItems #EnumParameters https://dynamics365musings.com/how-to-send-enum-parameters-to-forms Subscribe to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGH-qYVwp2AtQlOFFA3aDnA Related Blog: https://dynamics365musings.com ...

After developing a new form in Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O, you need to add a menu item in order for users to be able to access your new form or other object. In most organizations, sending an email to teams is an activity that is performed daily. As an example, if a new lead comes into the CRM organization, the assigned team needs to be notified, so that they can follow up. Unfortunately, sending an email to a team isn’t a simple task in CRM. It comprises quite a lot of steps, involving coding. The reason is that CRM does not allow sending an email to a team through the   CRM UI workflow . So, to achieve this functionality, we need to write a custom workflow and call it. The other option is to use third-party DLLs which can serve the purpose. In our organization, we use Jason Lattimer’s solution. The link to the ...

A sports fan arguably is the ideal client, frequently promoting and communicating about their favorite brand (the team). But using that passion and learning how to manage, communicate and embrace them in a way that can satisfy the team and the fan is easier said than done. Many sports teams rely on CRM software to help them create, build, and manage fan relationships and streamline ticket sales. And it shouldn’t be a surprise that  Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM  is a popular choice. So, the obvious question here is-why is CRM software so important for sports teams? Let’s look at a few important ways the sports teams use Dynamics CRM: ...

Just being customer-centric isn’t any added value that an organization has to offer anymore. It is a quintessential feature that underlines the ideals of a company. It has been proven that it is cost-effective to retain old customers and one of the best ways of doing that is taking care of them. This could mean going the extra mile, observing their consumerist (sans the ideology) behavior, predicting their requirements before they even narrate. Now in a parallel world would require a mind-reader or a hypnotist but thank God for  Microsoft Dynamics 365 , you do not have to venture far. Microsoft is like that magician who keeps on pulling out a trail of ...
