Adding CRM 2011 Folder to Favorites on Microsoft Outlook 2010

Hello CRMUG Members,

I wanted to share the step by step instructions on how to add Microsoft Dynamics CRM folders to your Microsoft Outlook 2010 favorites.

In Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 2007, you have the ability to Drag and Drop CRM folders into the Outlook ‘Favorites’ without a problem but that feature seems to be gone from Microsoft Outlook 2010.

After doing some research I found that the Solutions Module Service won’t let you simply drag and drop as Outlook 2003 and 2007. The Good news is that this module can be disabled in five easy steps.

  1. Click Start -> Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSCRMClient.
  3. Right-click MSCRMClient -> New, and then select DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  4. Enter DisableSolutionsModule as the name.
  5. Double-click the newly created DisableSolutionsModule REG_DWORD subkey and set the value to 1

If Microsoft Outlook 2010 is opened at this moment, please close and re-open Outlook for the changes to take effect.

Drag, Drop and Enjoy!
